ROCHA, A.FTítulo do trabalho em inglês. 2023. 75 f. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Engenharia Mecânica) - Faculdade de Engenharia, Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, 2023. The knowledge and modeling of natural phenomena, for example, waves, are and always have been man’s desire, as mastering them leads him to predict situations and manifestations that directly interfere with his way of life. In this sense, the study of these phenomena has allowed technological advances over the years, contributing to the well-being and security of humanity. In this work, I present the analysis of the wave behavior in a string, numerically solving the one-dimensional wave equation, using the finite difference method for its discretizations and the Python programming language for the creation of algorithms. With that, we obtained the numerical solution of the wave equation propagating on a string for a specific case of initial and boundary conditions and compared it with the analytical solution of the same. So, depending on the problem we want to solve, we can adapt the solution found to a similar oscillation problem
