Replacement of Boilers by Reverse Osmosis Systems in Oil Rigs

Abstract

The analysis of the decommissioning of boilers and replacement by reverse osmosis systems in the production of potable water proves to be important, mainly for the oil and gas industry, aiming to reduce the consumption of diesel from the oil rig, thus bringing benefits such as the reduction of emission of polluting gases that cause the greenhouse effect and reduction of financial costs. The study demonstrates the calculation of carbon dioxide emissions from boilers through three different factors. Thus, the improvements resulting from the project were concluded, in addition to proving the technical and financial feasibility of its implementation. The project aims to reduce emissions from the Petrobras 10,000 drillship by 6,555.68 tons of CO2 and the replacement becomes economically profitable after 61 days
