CFD Analysis of Chemical Species Diffusion for Different Pharmacological Stent Geometries

Abstract

chemical species diffusion in the blood flow of a coronary artery for differents farmacological stent geometries. The Finite Element Method was used to solve the governing equations of the blood flow in coronary artery with atherosclerosis and drugeluting stent placed.. The blood was modeled as a single-phase, incompressible and newtonian fluid. the stream-vorticity formulation - of Navier-Stokes equation - with chemical species transport equation were used as governing equations. Due to the necessity to decrease spurious oscillations as seen when the convective term is predominant, the Taylor-Galerkin scheme was adopted
